Ideal recipes to make with wine

One of the most versatile products in the kitchen is undoubtedly wine. Thanks to its different varieties, qualities, and range of flavours, it is one of the most adaptable and widely used ingredients in all types of cooking. This is why gastronomy has traditionally relied on it to enrich its dishes, a trend that modern chefs continue to follow by including wine among their fundamental ingredients.

Wine as an ingredient

Wine is an ingredient that adds aroma and flavour to dishes. It has been used to add colour to meals, enhance the taste of sauces, replace water or stock, and marinate foods. Its applications are endless.
To encourage you to discover them or to enhance your current use of wine if you already use it, at WINERYON we want to share five simple recipes where you will use our DEMUERTE wines. To ensure the result is as desired, you should always use a quality wine.

Recipe with wine 1: mussels in white wine

  • Heat a chopped shallot with a little butter in a saucepan.
  • After a few minutes, add the mussels.
  • Cover the saucepan for a few minutes and then add DEMUERTE WHITE wine.
  • Let it reduce by half, add cream, and cook for a few more minutes.
  • Season to taste and garnish with freshly chopped parsley.

Recipe with wine 2: squid with onions

  • Slice some garlic and an onion into thin strips.
  • Sauté them over medium-low heat for a few minutes.
  • Meanwhile, in a frying pan, sear the cleaned, washed, and dried squid.
  • Set the seared squid aside.
  • Add DEMUERTE WHITE wine to the same pan and, once it boils, add a portion of the sautéed onion.
  • Add the squid and serve hot.

Recipe with wine 3: beef cheeks in muscat wine sauce

  • Sear the cleaned beef cheeks in a pot and set them aside on a separate plate.
  • In the same oil, sauté onion, garlic, carrot, and leek until softened.
  • Add chopped tomato, cook for a couple of minutes, then pour in muscat wine.
  • Once the wine has evaporated, return the beef cheeks to the pot along with a bay leaf and a couple of cloves.
  • Cover everything with beef stock.
  • Close the pot and cook for 20 minutes.
  • Before serving, remove the beef cheeks and blend the sauce.

Recipe with wine 4: pears in red wine

  • Drizzle the pears with a mixture of apple cider, red wine, honey, cloves, star anise, cinnamon, and orange juice with its peel (previously boiled).
  • Simmer everything for about 12 minutes. Then, turn the pears over and continue cooking for another 10 minutes.

Recipe with wine 5: red wine french toast

  • Pour a generous glass of red wine from any of our DEMUERTE varieties onto a plate.
  • Beat a couple of eggs on a separate plate and place it next to the wine.
  • Soak the slices of bread in the wine for one or two seconds on each side.
  • Then, dip them into the beaten egg.
  • Once coated, fry them in hot virgin olive oil.
  • Place them on a dish and sprinkle with cinnamon or sugar, depending on your preference.

We are sure that you will love the result and that you will surprise all your guests.
